The Book of Psalms has been a source of comfort for believers for thousands of years. In times of trouble, joy, and everything in between, the Psalms give us words when we struggle to find our own.
Day 1: The Lord Is My Shepherd
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul.” — Psalm 23:1–3 (KJV)
When David wrote these words, he drew from his own experience as a shepherd. He knew what it meant to care for vulnerable creatures — to guide them to water, to protect them from predators, to carry them when they stumbled.
God does the same for us. Today, take a moment to reflect: where in your life do you need the Shepherd to lead you to still waters?
Day 2: A Refuge and Strength
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1 (KJV)
Notice the psalmist doesn’t say God might help or could be a refuge. He is our refuge. He is our strength. This isn’t a distant promise — it’s a present reality.
Reflection: What trouble are you carrying today? Bring it before your Refuge.
Day 3: Search Me, O God
“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” — Psalm 139:23–24 (KJV)
This is one of the bravest prayers in all of Scripture. David invites God to examine every corner of his heart. It takes courage to pray this way — and humility to mean it.
Prayer: Lord, search my heart today. Show me what needs to change, and give me the grace to follow where You lead.
